Meet the Cast: 85th Season Gala

Take a moment to get to know two of the performers at our  upcoming Ross Valley Players 85th Season Fundraising Gala on Saturday, April 18th. The sold-out event will also include performances by the Swing Society with Bernie Lussier, Peter Lavaroni, Lynn Jiavanniello, and Steve Shuster as well as two-time Emmy Award winner Rita Abrams with a surprise guest.

Charles Woodson Parker

Charles Woodson Parker is honored to be invited to perform at this year’s Ross Valley Players Fundraising Gala. Charles graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Boston Conservatory. Last year, he won the Theatre Bay Area Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play (Tier 3) for Boeing, Boeing at Altarena Playhouse. He’s also been recognized in local papers for his roles in Ruddigore (Robin), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Guildenstern), The Hairy Ape (Long), and the Mikado (Poobah) with Roleplayer Ensemble Theater and Assassins (John Hinkley Jr.) with Ray of Light. Recently, Charles has been pursuing film and voice over work with a Wawanesa commercial last year and a voice over for a language learning app recorded just this week. He would not be doing what he loves today without the support of friends and family and he wholeheartedly thanks each and every one.

Scott DeTurk Scott DeTurk graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music in composition. He has lived in Los Angeles, New York, Denver and the San Francisco Bay area, where he has worked extensively in theater, film, television and recording as a composer, lyricist, arranger, orchestrator, and musical director. Scott has fifteen published musicals, including Western Star, published by Music Theater International; A Boy Called Lizard and now Yo Ho Ho (A Pirate’s Christmas), both recently published by Samuel French; and twelve musicals published by Pioneer Drama Services. Scott has collaborated on the award-winning musical The Ghost & Mrs. Muir as well as DorianPest Control, The Thief, Born & Raised, Stressin’ Out and Insanity, all of which have had professional productions.

Scott has worked as a writer and composer for numerous commercial clients including: Disney, Hughes Aircraft, Maxtor, Time Warner, HBO, ESPN and ABC Television. As a musical director and accompanist he has worked with numerous Broadway performers and celebrities and is currently the musical director for the theater program at Marin School of the Arts and Community Congregational Church. Scott currently lives in San Rafael where he and his very talented wife, Kristine, run a performing arts program, Academy De Turk.

Meet the Cast: Hilda L. Roe

unnamed-1Hilda L. Roe (Nadine Honda) Hilda was last seen at RVP in the hilarious “The Dixie Swim Club”. She has performed at the Masquers Playhouse, Fringe of Marin, Playwrights Center of SF, and the SF Olympians Festival. (Hilda likes cocktails and long walks on the beach gazing at the sunset. Oops! Wrong entry.,,,ha!)

Meet the Cast: Jenn Lucas

legacy2-1Jennifer Lucas (Vera Moore) has done time on both coasts, performing onstage (scripted theater and improv) and in films, commercials and voice over in both New York and San Francisco. Recent roles include Diane in “The Little Dog Laughed” and MaryJo in “Dividing the Estate.” If you live in the 510 or 925, you can currently catch her shilling for Friedman’s Appliances during televised Warriors games. When not onstage, Jennifer spends time volunteering at Cat Town Cafe (cattowncafe.com); she encourages you to check out the great work this Oakland non-profit is doing to save kitty lives in the Bay Area. jennlucas.com

Meet the Cast: Kelly Rinehart

legacy1-1Kelly Rinehart (Evelyn Anthony) was last seen at Ross Valley Players as Elise in “The Miser” (2010). She’s also worked with other Bay Area companies including Custom Made, Dragon, Hillbarn, Los Altos Stage, Pear, Ragged Wing, and SF Olympians. She was privelaged to portray Ivy in “August: Osage County” at Contra Costa Civic Theatre, for which she was nominated as a Theatre Bay Area Award finalist. By day, Kelly works as a teaching artist and speech-language pathologist/AAC specialist. She also likes to play outside. So much to be grateful for – especially CM!

World Premiere: The Legacy

Legacy-RAWposter-finalRoss Alternative Works (RAW) is proud to announce the world premiere of The Legacy, a psychological thriller written by Max Gutmann and directed by Buzz Halsing. The show opens on Friday, April 17 for six performances only, closing Sunday, April 26.

After the death of Sidney Moore, a billionaire with lots of secrets, his widow and his mistress meet to settle their differences before the reading of the will. Their differences, it’s soon clear, are unbridgeable. Starring Jenn Lucas, Kelly Rinehart, and Hilda L. Roe.
